What Causes Dark Eye Circles?
Dark circles under the lower eyelids are a common condition that can make us appear looking tired. To make matters worse, they can be difficult to get rid of.
The area under the eyes can appear darker due to constricted blood vessels causing hyperpigmentation, or from thinning of the skin around the eyes.
They could be caused by lack of sleep, allergies, thinning skin under the eyes, aging, smoking & many more...
As we age, we lose fatty tissue under these areas and the skin around the eyes gets thinner. These changes can make dark circles appear more defined in older adults.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do to get rid of them for good but there are things we can do to help manage the condition.
Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels. This can reduce the appearance of puffiness and help eliminate dark circles
Catching up on sleep can also help reduce their appearance
Applying cucumber slices to the eyes may soothe tired eyes and reduce swelling. The high water and vitamin C content of cucumber may help to nourish and moisturize the skin. Cucumber also contains silica, which is essential for healthy tissue.
Facial serums and under-the-eye products that contain antioxidants may help to reduce the appearance of dark circles. Vitamins E and C are antioxidants that may help treat dark circles.
You'll find some of these are in our Timeless collection, in particular, the Timeless Vitamin C+E Ferulic acid and Coenzyme Q10 serums and the Timeless Dark Circle Eye Cream.
