It's a common knowledge that to effectively care for our skin, we need to know our own skin type.....However, it isn't something all us can be sure of so we're sharing some of popular techniques that could be used as helpful guides to determine your own skin type
.
They say the easiest way to know our skin type is to take a day test, that's to see how our skin performs from morning to evening on an average day
.
If your face feels oily and looks shiny by the end of the day then you're likely to have oily skin type
.
If your T-zone's shimmering, but the rest of your face is mostly matte, it's likely to be combination skin
.
If you have minimal oil and doesn't feel dry, tight with no redness all then you could be blessed with normal skin type
.
If your skin is flaky or/and feeling tight, then it's likely to be dry skin type
.
If your skin feels itchy, red, or inflamed then you skin could be sensitive.
.
However, this test might not work if you regularly shower midday after an exercise session or work outdoors. If so, a wash test could be more appropriate to try providing our skin is in good health
.
Just wash your face with a mild cleanser and don’t apply any product or makeup. Wait 30 minutes and examine how your skin feels
.
Please note that we can have dehydrated skin, which is a skin condition regardless of your skin type
.
Once we understand our skin type, we can focus on adding suitable skincare products and techniques to our arsenal that help us to effectively care for our skin and work with its own unique characteristics.
